I went to Lévis today, to do some archival research for upcoming writing projects.
I cannot believe our luck to live here: to take the ferry across from Quebec City to Lévis; to experience the tide running in, bringing a whiff of salt; to see the tones of apricot, pink, turquoise, and steel-blue (all wintry colours) on the waters, in the sky and down over Mont Ste-Anne and the Charlevoix region; to see the Coast Guard fleet lined up, including the research icebreaker Amundsen I wintered on a few years back, off Banks Island, when I was filming The Blinding Sea. Actually, in the feature image at the top of this blog, the Amundsen is just to the left of the Vincent Massey, a new vessel which underwent sea trials off Île d’Orléans a few weeks ago.
