The Blinding Sea has just been made an Official Selection at Arctic Open, the Arctic countries film festival organized by the Bereginya Pomor Culture Foundation in Arkhangelsk, near the White Sea, in northern Russia.
This comes as a great honour.
Judging from the still photo they are using in the programme, they like the Siberian Chukchi connections in the film. The photo shows Gloria Corbould, a British Columbian lady I first met in Mexico, then invited to Canada to meet her Norwegian cousin, Anne-Christine Amundsen Jacobsen. Gloria is the daughter of Cakonita, a Chukchi girl Amundsen legally adopted, and is therefore Amundsen’s adoptive granddaughter. She has amazing family stories to share!
The festival is due to take place on December 9, 2021.
